15348 Adhesives for Mounting Retainers

It is recommended that all retainers be mechanically riveted or screwed to the aircraft structure and that a good quality adhesive (DG PN 15348) be used to seal the area underneath the retainer.  In cases where rivets or screws are not possible, such as honeycomb surfaces, our conductive silver loaded epoxy (DG PN 16307) should be used.

This is a two-part epoxy used as a seal between the retainer and the skin of the aircraft to keep out moisture, dust, and other elements that could cause corrosion problems.  This must be used with positive mechanical fastening devices such as rivets or screws.  One epoxy kit contains enough material to seal approximately eight retainers.
